The desire to create

Last year, Dieter F. Uchtdorf Second Counselor in the First Presidency of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gave a beautiful talk http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=15674bb52a73d110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD about Happiness. In it he said that "The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul" I totally fell in love with that quote. It totally explains my life. I don't have talent oozing out of my pores. But I do love to try. The bag in the picture is my first attempt at applique. I finished it last night and am pretty excited. The Internet has been a great help to my creative process (but not to the pocket book). There are so many talented people out there, and so many are willing to help with there little tutorials.
So I dare you to read President Uchdorf's talk, feel inspired and go make this world a more beautiful place.

  1. I love it the bag. Applique is fun once you get the hang of it. Plus it helps get rid of fabric you have lying around. I too was inspired to create things. I remember sitting and watching the broadcast and wanting to sew things for stake humanitarian projects. Almost a year later I've sewn over six quilts and a few humanitarian projects as well.

Creating things is so much fun! I too agree that the pocket book tends to hurt a little while soaring to more creative hieghts. But somehow the Lord still blesses us.
